2023 OHABA Conference Key Note Speaker: Lorri Unumb


Lorri Shealy Unumb is a lawyer, mother of three teenage boys, and an internationally renowned autism advocate. She began her career as an appellate attorney with the United States Department of Justice and then as a full-time law professor. Following her son’s diagnosis with autism, she began volunteering for autism causes, writing ground-breaking autism insurance legislation for South Carolina (“Ryan’s Law”) that passed in 2007 and served as the catalyst for the national movement toward autism insurance reform. She served for a decade as the national head of state government affairs for the international nonprofit Autism Speaks. Lorri is also the founder of the annual Autism Law Summit, now in its 14th year, and is co-author of the law school textbook “Autism and the Law.” In 2010, she founded the Autism Academy of South Carolina, a nonprofit ABA center now known as The Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment.












Dr. Cammilleri is a Board Certified and Licensed Behavior Analyst, as well as a Licensed Special Education Administrator, who was degreed in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Kansas. While completing his graduate studies, he served as the Principal of Century School in Lawrence, KS. Upon graduation, he served as a Behavior Analyst for the Somerset Hills Learning Institute in Far Hills, NJ. For the next 10 years, Dr. Cammilleri served as the Director of the Jane Justin School in Fort Worth, TX. After moving back to New England, Dr. Cammilleri served as the President/CEO of Crossroads School in Marlborough, MA from 2014 to 2019.
Dr. Cammilleri specializes in the design of individualized curriculum sequences, the use of measurement systems to assess the effectiveness of those sequences, and in the staff training required for the implementation of both. He is best known for educational leadership that promotes the virtues of citizenship, friendship, and scholarship – the elements of an inclusive community whose members care for their world and one another, and enjoy a lifelong love of learning.
Currently, Dr. Cammilleri is an FTF Lead Consultant and Director of Education who helps organizations build behavior analytic capacity in the areas of cultural design, instructional design, staff training, policy development, and the practical functional assessment and skill-based treatment of severe problem behavior. 








Tamara S. Kasper, MS, CCC-SLP, BCBA, is a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist who has treated children with challenging behavior since 1990, specializing in children with autism since 1995. Tamara’s commitment to the children she serves led her to pursue treatment methods outside the field of Speech-Language Pathology. She has advanced training in Nancy Kaufman’s strategies for apraxia of speech and partnered with Nancy to create The K&K Sign to Talk Materials and App. She has advanced training in Applied Behavior Analysis/Applied Verbal Behavior, and under the mentorship of renowned Behavior Analyst Dr. Vincent Carbone and his protégé, became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Described by attendees as “inspirational” and “empowering,” Tamara is a frequently invited international lecturer, enthusiastically sharing intervention techniques that building functional verbal behavior, social communication skills and combine social skills training with physical training. She has lectured and treated individuals across the United States and Canada as well as in Ethiopia, Senegal, Greece, Germany, England, Ireland, and other countries. She is past recipient of WISHA’s Clinical Achievement Award. Tamara directed The Center for Autism Treatment near Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 15 years, and now serves as Director, Clinical Center of Excellence for Caravel Autism Health.







Francesca Degli Espinosa Ph.D., BCBA-D.I am a certified behavior analyst (BCBA-D) and research doctor in psychology (Ph.D.). I have been dealing with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for more than twenty years, both clinically and educationally. My specialization areas are educational programming for people with autism and reduction of problematic behaviors. For several years I have been teaching analysis of advanced verbal behavior in various masters courses in Italy (University of Salerno), United Kingdom (Queen’s University, Belfast) and United States (Penn State).










William L. Heward, Ed.D., BCBA-D, is Professor Emeritus in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. A Past President and Fellow of the Association for Behavior Analysis International, Bill has been a Fulbright Scholar in Portugal, a Visiting Professor of Psychology at Keio University in Tokyo and at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, and given lectures and workshops in 23 other countries. His publications include co-authoring the books Applied Behavior Analysis (with John Cooper and Tim Heron), Exceptional Children: An Introduction to Special Education (with Sheila Alber-Morgan and Moira Konrad), and Sign Here: A Behavioral Contracting Book for Families (with Jill Dardig), each of which has been translated into several foreign languages. Awards recognizing Bill’s contributions to behavior analysis include the Fred S. Keller Behavioral Education Award from the American Psychological Association's Division 25, the Ellen P. Reese Award for Communication of Behavioral Concepts from the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, and the Distinguished Psychology Department Alumnus Award from Western Michigan University. Bill’s research interests include "low-tech" methods for increasing the effectiveness of group instruction in inclusive classrooms.










Jill C. Dardig Ed.D. is Professor Emerita of Education at Ohio Dominican University, where she trained special education teachers for 30 years. Previously, Dr. Dardig was a curriculum development specialist for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. She also served as a consultant at Centro da Vilariñha, a program that taught independent living and vocational skills to teenagers and young adults with developmental disabilities in Porto, Portugal. Dr. Dardig has been a visiting professor at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, and presented workshops for teachers and parents in Europe, South America, and Asia. Jill has written several books and other publications about and for parents including Involving Parents of Students with Special Needs: 25 Ready-to-Use Strategies (Corwin Press, 2008). Jill has an A.B. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.Ed. and Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts.







Selena J. Layden, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LBA is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Disorders and Special Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Dr. Layden also serves as the Executive Director for the Virginia Public Schools Behavior Analyst Network. Dr. Layden earned her doctorate degree from the College of William & Mary in Education Policy, Planning, and Leadership with an emphasis in Special Education Administration and her master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Prior to joining the faculty at ODU, Dr. Layden worked in multiple school divisions focusing on challenging behavior and children with autism spectrum disorder. She was also the Assistant Director of Training at the Autism Center for Excellence at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Layden has published and presented on her research interests which focus on autism spectrum disorder, providing effective professional development for school personnel, and improving the implementation of evidence-based practices in schools.
                   










Janet Lund Ph.D., BCBA-D is a co-founder of BehaviorLive.  She received her MS degree in Behavior Analysis and Therapy from Southern Illinois University in 1995 and her PhD in Cognitive Behavioral Science from Florida State University in 1999.  Prior to joining Kadiant, Janet and her husband, Dr. Coby Lund, founded Integrated Behavioral Solutions, a clinical practice in Atlanta, GA in 2000 which provided ABA services for individuals with developmental disabilities.  She is a Founder of DataFinch Technologies, an ABA data collection software company.   Janet also worked at Aubrey Daniels International from 1999-2016 in the field of Organizational Behavior Management.  She is a past president of the Georgia Association for Behavior Analysis.









Coby Lund Ph.D., BCBA-D received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, his Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University, and his doctorate from Florida State University. Dr. Lund is the former CEO of Integrated Behavioral Solutions and DataFinch Technologies, both based in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Lund is a past president of the Georgia Association for Behavior Analysis, and is currently CEO of Archer Behavioral Health.
